Appreciation for “State Electric Corp.” Mutual Aid Utility Crew Out of Boston & Navy Seabee Memory

  Commentary by Jacqueline Bennett   Having a lineman in the family we are keenly aware of what it means for these folks to be called to serve on mutual aid crews out-of-state away from their families, for days, sometimes weeks at a time, working long hours often in dangerous weather conditions. With that in mind, the Bennetts would like to express our appreciation to a State Electric Corporation crew out of Boston, Massachusetts which restored power to relatives in Windham, Connecticut.     Due to the effects of the recent storm which brought high winds and heavy rain that caused downed tree limbs and downed electrical lines, our Windham relatives were without electrical power for four days. Breakfast Week & the “Most Memorable of Breakfasts”

When I learned yesterday of annual Breakfast Week slated for January 24-30, 2016 by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, to highlight the importance of “the most important meal of the day”, my plan was to write a straightforward report on the event.   My thoughts though kept drifting back to the most memorable of breakfasts experienced on the most memorable of trips from Connecticut up to Boston, Massachusetts to a Red Sox game. Destination: Cheers at Faneuil Hall Boston, Massachusetts

Write-up & photos by Jacqueline Bennett     Most people know about the Cheers bar, formerly the Bull & Finch on Beacon Street in Boston, Massachusetts made famous by the television show “Cheers.” Less known may be that a Cheers replica bar is located at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Dating back to 1826 when it sold meat, poultry, eggs and butter the marketplace was renovated in 1976. In the heart of the city, it still thrives today but now sells tourist type wares. Cheers at Faneuil Hall is a recreation of the set viewers saw week in and week out on the popular 1980s comedy series starring Ted Danson as Sam Malone and Shelly Long as Diane Chambers.
